The Embassy + JJULIUS
The Embassy
Formed in Gothenburg in 1999, The Embassy consists of Fredrik Lindson and Torbjörn Håkansson. Their music blends disco, twee pop, and pub rock. Known for their anti-rock aesthetic and irreverent live shows, The Embassy have long been both adored and detested in equal measure.
After releasing their debut EP on Dolores Recordings in 2001, they were signed by the now-legendary label Service, with whom they collaborated for the next decade. Today, the band releases music through their own label, International.
JJULIUS
JJULIUS is a singer, musician, and producer from Gothenburg. His music is idiosyncratic pop drawing inspiration from dub, disco, krautrock, and post-punk. His lyrics reflect kitchen-sink realism, capturing feelings of alienation and the struggle to make adult life work.
His latest album, VOL.3, released on the American label DFA (run by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy), is his most ambitious work to date. The songs are built on beats recorded by Tor Sjödén of Viagra Boys—beats themselves inspired by Patrick Cowley, CAN, Count Ossie, Black Devil Disco Club, and other carefully selected JJULIUS favorites. Tor’s driving rhythms have been chopped and adorned with atmosphere and melody, resulting in something deeply personal yet inviting. In an early review, GAFFA awarded the album 5 out of 6 stars, praising its originality and distinct voice.

Accessibility
The Cultural Center Oceanen is a Q-marked culturally historical building, which is challenging when it comes to accessibility. We do our best to have as many people as possible visit us. When visiting us with mobility aids the best-suited entrance is through the stage. This entrance is accessed via Gathenhielmska trädgården. The entrance is locked, please email us the day before your visit or the latest Friday at 16:00 if you are visiting us during the weekend. We have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Personal assistants do not need to purchase their own ticket, but we ask you to contact us in advance so we can issue a ticket for the person.
Please note that flashing lights may occur during concerts and events. For questions regarding accessibility email Mia Herman at mia@oceanen.com.
