Völva + Contorture + Amanda Ferm

Völva

From the deep forests of southern Sweden, Völva emerges. Combining raw aggression with empowering messages, Völva's relentless rebellion ignites the fire within us for a more just world. The crushing second-wave black metal soundscape is fueled by the hatred that permeates our beings just by being alive in today's world. Formed in 2018, Völva has changed and transformed over time to land as today's powerful trio.

The word 'völva' derives from the Old Norse word 'vǫlr', which is often interpreted as 'staff-bearer'. In pre-Christian times, the völva was a highly respected woman and is considered a powerful spiritual diviner in Norse mythology.

Highlights of gigs so far in 2023 have been Gefle Metal Festival in Gävle, Sweden and Mörkaste Småland in Hultsfred, Sweden. Previous years include Metal Magic in Fredericia, Denmark, and Malmö Massacre in Malmö, Sweden, to name a few.

We are intolerant to any behavior implying someone else taking any right to claim that their color of skin, heritage or geographical belonging entitles them to be superior to someone else. Needless to say, but as non males living in a society like ours, there's no end of the hatred we feel against the male white supremacy.”- Völva

Contorture

Contorture has been playing raw mangle with their fist in the air since 2009. With paws in the Gothenburg diy-mill and comrades all over Europe, Gothenburg's shortest band has played here and there between Luleå and Belgrade and the fight continues until someone wrestles them off the stage! You will be treated to d-beat chaos with noisy vocals, discordant guitars and political lyrics.

Amanda Ferm

The DJ for the evening is hard rock visual artist Amanda Ferm who'll play hard rock (of course!?), metal, punk all drenched in lots of tough chicks.

Accessibility

The Cultural Center Oceanen is a Q-marked culturally historical building, which is challenging when it comes to accessibility. We do our best to have as many people as possible visit us. When visiting us with mobility aids the best-suited entrance is through the stage. This entrance is accessed via Gathenhielmska trädgården. The entrance is locked, please email us the day before your visit or the latest Friday at 16:00 if you are visiting us during the weekend. We have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Please note that flashing lights may occur during concerts and events. For questions regarding accessibility email Mia Herman at mia@oceanen.com.
