Lisen Rylander Löve

Gothenburg-based saxophonist Lisen Rylander Löve is internationally active in jazz, electronica and experimental music. In 2019 she released her first solo album OCEANS which was celebrated by both audiences and music critics. The record has been described as an uncompromising and multi-faceted debut with a fusion of electronica, improvisation, jazz and experimental pop. This is music where the broken meets the beautiful, the acoustic meets the electronic. Waves of sound; plentiful, different, many. The listener is accompanied by a constant dark undertone where harmony meets disharmony. By mixing acoustic instruments such as saxophone and voice with live electronics, Lisen Rylander Löve creates her own unique sound worlds. Her music is brave, with a nerve, not quite accessible, but welcoming, democratic and rewarding. The album OCEANS is nominated for Manifest 2020.

During many years of artistic work, with the utmost fingertip feeling, Lisen has demonstrated the meaning of the genre name contemporary jazz, but also stretched the definitions and thereby consolidated her role as one of the most significant and innovative jazz musicians and composers of our time. She has released several acclaimed records with the quartets The Splendor and Here's To Us, and she played in the electronica group Midaircondo for twelve years. Lisen is constantly active with various collaborations and as a guest musician. In recent years she has toured with Union Carbide Productions and Richard Barbieri (of the band Japan), among others. An exploratory musician and artist,  she gives as much space to dark beats and samplings as to percussion, voice and tenor saxophones on OCEANS. Joining her on stage are Martin Öhman (Klabbes Bank among others) and Donovan von Martens (Hannah Tolf band among others), who both add their strong personal musical expression to the performance.

Lisen Rylander Löve: Tenor sax, voice, live electronics.

Donovan von Martens: Bass, live electronics.

Martin Öhman: Drums, live electronics.
