Oceanen & Fendika presenterar: Home Swap Festival 2022
I sommar är det premiär för den nya minifestivalen Home Swap Festival – ett koncept som bjuder in gäster från olika delar av världen till Kulturhuset Oceanen. Först ut är dans- och musikkollektivet Fendika från kulturcentret i Addis Abeba, Etiopien med samma namn. Ta del av etiopisk kultur via livemusik, dansworkshop, filmvisning, kaffeceremoni, matförsäljning och DJ-sets.

Dansworkshop med Fendika Kom och lär dig grunderna till den etiopiska dansen Eskista – från en riktig mästare: Melaku Belay.About the workshop:
Melaku gives a short verbal introduction to Eskista, and the folklore related to it. He leads a warm up, then introduces the basics of the Ethiopian dance Eskista, Tigregna, Guragegna. He also gives simple choreography for participants to try out. Emebet, the female dancer from the Fendika troupe, will also demonstrate, as men’s and women’s movements can be slightly different.About Melaku Belay:
The founding director of Fendika Cultural Center, Melaku Belay is a world-renowned Ethiopian dancer and an ambassador for Ethiopia’s music and dance. In 2018, he became the founding president of Ethiopian Dance Art Association. Melaku was celebrated as a finalist for the 2018 Ye Bego Sew Award (Ethiopian Person of the Year), in the category of raising global awareness of Ethiopian culture. Melaku’s international honors include a 2015 Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (France), a 2019 Visa for Music Award (Morocco), a 2020 Prince Claus Award (the Netherlands), a 2021 Ethiopian Role Model Award, and a 2022 TED Fellow.Om Fendika: Fendika är en dans- och musikgrupp som består av de skickligaste dansarna och musikerna från Addis Abeba. Med fokus på att lyfta etiopisk tradition blandar de även in samtida rörelser och ljud. Melaku Belay, en av de ledande dansarna inom etiopisk dans grundade Fendika år 2009. Fendika består av 2 dansare, 2 sångare och 4 instrumentalister som spelar kebero trummor, masenko (en ensträngad stråkfiol), krar (en fem- eller sexsträngad lyra) och bas-krar. Gruppen har sin bas i det berömda kulturcentret Fendika Cultural Center.
The Cultural Center Oceanen is a Q-marked culturally historical building, which is challenging when it comes to accessibility.
We do our best to have as many people as possible visit us. When visiting us with mobility aids the best-suited entrance is through the stage.
This entrance is accessed via Gathenhielmska trädgården. The entrance is locked, please email us the day before your visit or the latest Friday at 16:00 if you are visiting us during the weekend.
We have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Personal assistants do not need to purchase their own ticket, but we ask you to contact us in advance so we can issue a ticket for the person.
