Primula + Spomenik

Date: Friday 29 May
Time: 20:00 – 01:00
Price: 180

Primula serves up garage-style indie rock, dreamy guitar strums, and harmonies. On their EP, set for release in May, they’ve created introspective ambient music with songs that depict late adolescence, the desire to belong and to run away, love, longing, and the indifference that grows when things don’t turn out as planned.

“Well, some day might be different.
Let them look and whisper—it just means I’m ahead.
Maybe it’s just a matter of time, but I can’t tell you my name yet.”

Primula, based in Malmö and Stockholm, consists of members Ella Cronberg, Jim Base, Olle Lannér Risenfors, and Christoffer Hedén. Their EP “Nothing New” was produced in collaboration with Gustav Alte and the British-Swedish record label Flak Records.

Spomenik is known for their Kate Bush-esque freakpop with roots in prog and post-punk. Gritty guitar riffs and a heavy groove.

In classic pop style, Gothenburg-based Spomenik is both rousing and soothing. The lyrics engage with their aggressive thoughtfulness, and the sounds caress the audience against the grain in the most pleasant way. Band members Johannes Bergil, Klara Ahlersten, Joel Haag, and Frida Simmons took the name Spomenik from the brutalist monuments in the Balkans raised in memory of anti-fascists who fought during World War II.

Doors open at 8:00 PM. Welcome!
